birthday party supplies, birthday theme

This year my husband turns the big 5-0 and I have decided to throw him a huge birthday bash. My best friend said that I need a theme for the party, but I still haven't decided yet if I'm going to go that route or not. A birthday theme would be nice, but I can't even begin to imagine what kind of birthday theme I would consider for my husband since he's not really a sports fan or anything else. The only thing I could think of would be a car theme, but probably the only birthday party supplies I could find for that birthday theme would be from the Disney movie Cars. I'm not giving that idea up completely, but it definitely is something that I'm going to have to think on.

My sister said that I was looking at birthday party supplies far too soon, but that's only because she waits until the last minute to do anything and then rushes around like a chicken with her head cut off. In that aspect, my sister and I are like night and day. I like to have all of my ducks in a row with everything I do, and that includes knowing what birthday party supplies I like, noting which ones I like and then when the time comes, going back to the website and ordering the birthday party supplies that I have chosen. It makes the entire process much more simple and it keeps me organized, which I happen to thrive on.

Probably my biggest concern is that I'll spend the money on birthday party supplies and throwing my husband a big surprise party and he'll hate it. He really isn't one for parties and huge celebrations, but I think that turning 50 is a milestone. He has so many wonderful things happening in his life, and I personally believe that it's something to celebrate. I don't think he'll object, but you know how men can be. I just hope that his mom and the rest of the family can keep the surprise to themselves and not let it slip out. They are notorious for that sort of thing, and I really want him to be completely surprised. Right now, I have a hungry family to feed, so first things first.
