Using Gourmet Food as a Party Decoration |

I was trying to come up with a birthday theme for my sister's big 4-0 party, and I think I stumbled on a good one. She is a health nut and when I found a fruit and nut gift basket, saw that I could use the contents and build around it to carry the birthday idea around fresh food and eating healthy. The whole family loves healthy food, and having some fresh, gourmet fruit and nuts would make fun and edible party decorations. I enjoy working with food, cooking, and decorating the house, and her birthday isn't for a month, which will give me plenty of time to start getting all the ducks in a row.
Besides the family, we're inviting some of her friends, too, so it should be a pretty lively party. She's a musician and I've asked a couple of them to bring their instruments so we can have live music from time to time, as well. I like the birthday idea of having healthy food as party decorations. Food is so attractive and it's a very practical party decoration, as well. What they don't eat at the party, they can take home to enjoy, and we can always refrigerate what is left behind, as well.
Of course we'll have the birthday cake and ice cream and may even put out some other snacks like potato chips and pretzels, and some cheese plates. When my sister entertains us at her house, she always has plate after plate of nibblies on her kitchen ledge, so it'll probably seem natural to her for us to do the same. I found the Capistrano Ultimate Fruit Gift online by following links from Shop On Mine at http://www.shoponmine.com/, a site that has a lot of cool links to websites that have flowers and fruit. In fact, I'll combine some flowers from the yard with flowers that we order as part of the party decorations for her party, too.
We turn 40 only once, so and my sister throws some pretty nice parties for the family, so it's our turn to do the same for her. I know she'll be delighted to see the healthy party decorations that I've selected to celebrate her birthday. She's a great lady and is so generous with her time and money with the rest of us, so it's our turn to return the favor by throwing her a party that celebrates much of what she stands for: eating well, being happy, and sharing generous thoughts and gifts with others.
