Throwing a 70's Party Aided by Party Decorations |

My aunt is celebrating her 60th birthday and we're having a surprise party for her. Although she's almost 60, she's as lively and young at heart as she was in her 40's, so when considering birthday themes for her party, we decided to go with party decorations from the 70's. She was one of the original hippies, and we all like the music from that era, so we got online and found the birthday decorations we needed to recreate that atmosphere. We ordered some paper goods with the themes of peace, love, and harmony as well as loading some of the most popular songs from the 70's on an MP3 player for continuous play at the party.
It's going to be a really fun party. Besides the music and the party decorations, we're going to have food from the '70's era, too. Back then, the hippies started experimenting with different diets, like macrobiotics and food from India, so we'll be serving mostly vegetarian dishes. Fortunately, it's a whole lot easier to get foods in these genres now than it was back then. Tea was also a big deal back in the 70's, as was Sangria wine, so we'll probably be serving those, too, as the beverages.
It's going to be so much fun to arrange the party decorations, too. My aunt has quite a few nostalgic items from the 70's, but we won't be able to use them since it's a surprise party, so we've been hunting around for things like tie dye clothes and hippie beaded necklaces at thrift stores. We also ordered some wigs online, too, and it's not hard to find clothes from that era, even in our own closets. Jeans will be perfect, especially if they are splattered with paint and tie dye T shirts are everywhere.
I found the party decorations at a cool website that has a big section of birthday party decorations and lots of ideas for themes. It's called Shop On Mine located at http://www.shoponmine.com, and I'm making it my one stop shop for party decorations in the future. I have some friends who have mastered throwing huge parties, and I'm even emailing them the link to the site so they can either get party decorations themselves, or get ideas for the parties. Their parties are big; they often have parties with over 100 people, so they save their energy to host the party and order everything they need online to make the party special. I know that this 70's themed party will be so special for my aunt, too, and I know we'll all have a blast listening to classic rock, folk music from that era, and eating interesting food while celebrating a milestone birthday for my aunt.
