As an adult, I can understand how life can be hectic and busy. So, I have to admire my friends who have kids. Many may see birthday parties as a burden to plan. I see it as a potentially fun activity for both parents and kids.
As an event planning intern for a local nonprofit organization, I gained some party planning experience under my belt. Event planning is a great way to learn how to be organized and responsible. It's also rewarding to see an idea flourish to life. So, I thought about it and realized that kids could actually learn a lot from planning their own parties.
So parents, put some time aside and plan out birthday party ideas. Sit down with your child and brainstorm some birthday themes. If you're child is young, then Tinkerbell or Transformer birthday themes would be appropriate. If you have a tween, then perhaps Miley Cyrus, High School Musical or Twilight would be perfect birthday themes.
Once a theme is decided, everything falls into place. Coordinate birthday party supplies, party decorations and birthday favors around a central theme.
