I am thankful to have gained experience in event planning during college. Today, I do it for fun. Sometimes, my friends will ask me to help them plan birthday ideas for an event involving their kids. I love thinking up birthday ideas for kids because I feel like the most creative and exciting birthday ideas comes from planning out kids' parties.
One aspect that parents often forget is that younger children need activities to entertain them during the party. Sure, you can have the best party decorations and birthday party supplies, but if you do not offer fun activities, the party will be pretty, but boring. Kids often need entertainment and interaction to keep them in check.
When thinking up birthday ideas, first begin with birthday themes. After that, everything falls into place. Birthday ideas for activities should match birthday themes. For example, a Tinkerbell party that I helped coordinate included the following activities:
- "Build a Wand" was a craft making session where little girls had glitter, markers, construction paper, sticks and glue to create their own magical wand
- "Tinkerbell Freeze" was a dance game where the girl in power waved her wand and the parent controlling the music player paused the music. Anyone that was still dancing was asked to leave the game
- "Pin the Star on the Wand" was basically a version of pin the tail on the donkey, only a girl was blindfolded in a green cloth with the objective to pin a star on a picture of Tinkerbell and her wand
- Watching the movie Tinkerbell to wind down after eating
