Time is something that is always good to have when you are setting up party decorations. Usually, though, that is a commodity I don't usually have. I don't know why, but it seems like the last couple of birthday parties, I have been under the gun as far as putting up the party decorations. I started with my daughter's third birthday. The party was planned out four weeks in advance, but when it came down to the day of the party, I got called in to work the morning shift. When I got home, I had 60 minutes - only one hour - to set up party decorations and favors for 20 people!

Since then, we have had six different birthday parties. Three kids, three parties a year adds up to a lot of time setting up party decorations. At least, it should. However, I've probably only logged about 10 hours total in all those parties. The good thing is that I can now set up party decorations very fast, and have even devised a system.

I usually start with the streamers and get those strung up very quickly with tacks that I save for the next time. Then comes the balloons which are quickly blown up with a helium tank I keep in the closet. Next, the table is adorned with the center piece, the tablecloth, and theme specific plates. There are also times when I will put up other party decorations like pinata, posters, and other little things if the theme warrants it. One thing that I always do to make the decorating a little easier is to buy a kit that contains everything I need.

For example, the last birthday we had was for my nine year old son. He loves Ben 10 and wanted his party decorations to reflect that. While there I can easily look at several different party decorations ideas, themes, and favors. This really cuts down on the time involved as I can shop quickly at home and have them delivered without having to go out to do it.

They had a nice Ben 10 Deluxe Kit For 8 party decorations kit with a lot of the different things I would need. I ordered it, along with a few more plates, favors, streamers, and other little trinkets from the Shop On Mine website. This party was a hit, and I had it all decorated in just 45 minutes. I'm getting even faster!
