party decorations

Every year my Birthday comes and goes surrounded by Christmas party decorations. This year it is going to be different. We have booked a party room at one of the Chinese buffets for my birthday. We are going in early and taking down their Christmas decorations and putting in Birthday party decorations. There is going to be no mistaking my Birthday for a Christmas party this year. I think it has to do with me turning forty. I don’t want my birthday to blend into Christmas this time.

At first we had a bit of a problem finding birthday party decorations that were not for kids. The stores here are full of Christmas party decorations, with very little in the way of grownup birthday party decorations. My husband decided to look online and found a store that has a section that specializes in all types of party decorations. It is called Shop On Mine and is located at www.shoponmine.com. What a great find. If you are having a party they have the decorations. I got a lot of ideas from them. My husband was teasing me that he was going to get the western theme party set. No way. I want something classy, elegant and grown up, like the Hollywood theme party set.

So now it is just a matter of waiting for my birthday decorations to arrive. We are going with the Hollywood theme. Everyone is to dress up as a movie star or their favorite movie character. We have personalized birthday banners, and all types of Hollywood theme items. I think it is going to be a lot of fun breaking away from the Christmas celebrations to do something different. I don’t know why we never did this before. It seems like everyone is looking forward to seeing my party decorations. Quite a few admitted it will be nice to do something not Christmas. It can be overwhelming once Thanksgiving is over, suddenly everything is Christmas.

All I know is that I am going to have fun. The decorations from Shop On Mine will make my party. We have almost a hundred people invited. And of course despite wanting to make sure my birthday had nothing to do with Christmas, I sabotaged it myself. I requested that instead of giving me a birthday gift that everyone brings a donation for the local Christmas toy drive. I am ok with that. I get my non-Christmas birthday party and kids will receive some great Christmas gifts. Just because I did not want my birthday to evolve around Christmas does not mean I don’t have the Christmas spirit.
